Originally from Christchurch, NZ, I immigrated to Australia in 1983 and except for the west coast and Tasmania, I have journeyed and lived from Phillip Island in Victoria, to Cooktown in Queensland. from Adelaide in South Australia to Katherine in the Northern Territory. I've camped under the stars at Uluru and trekked through the Daintree rainforest to camp at Cedar Bay.

I've lived the life of the "Aussie Battler", having built a farm and home with my bare hands from a bit of bush, with no electricity and a lot of sweat. Fought bushfires as a volunteer firefighter and battled floods as a member of the State Emergency Service.

Suffice to say, I love this sunburnt country and the people in it and the characters I've met!

My wife Janene and I currently live near Brisbane, with our 2 girls.

 

Art has always been a passion of mine, however I did not take up oil painting until after the divorce from my first wife in the year 2000.

Having lost the farm (literally) and suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome, I began to paint and discovered that I had a natural talent for portraits. I started with my own family and then began getting requests for commissions from friends and acquaintances.

I particularly enjoy painting couples, as I feel that a painting that portrays a strong and loving relationship, can be a constant encouragement in an uneasy world.

That's my wife Janene and I in the portrait on the easel and I can honestly say that this portrait hanging in our living room has been a valuable reminder for us and our children as we have faced life's ups and downs. I just have to look at it and it reminds me of who we are, the love we share and that we can face anything together.

I encourage you to commission a portrait to hang in your home, because I truly believe that it is an investment you will find, exceeds the 'colour of money'.
